About the Programme
An undergraduate Degree programme in Management studies was one of the first Self-financing Courses introduced by the University of Mumbai by the turn of 21st century. the BMS Degree Programme was well received by the industry due to its practical application . B.M.S. Course spread over a period of 3 years was introduced in Don Bosco College in 2012-13 and has very soon gained popularity with the demand ratio exceeding 10 times. The BMS curriculum has been specially designed keeping in mind the requirements of industry and in order to equip students with the skills of business leadership, from II Year, the student can select any one specialisation field out of three subjects specialisation viz., Marketing, Finance & HR offered by the college.
Objectives
The Bachelor of Management Studies was introduced by the University of Mumbai as an unaided course in 1999 with intent to promote a management course at the under-graduate level. With the growing demand for professionally qualified management executives, the course has been especially designed to create middle cadre management personnel.
At Don Bosco College, the Three year BMS Degree course is affiliated to the University of Mumbai.It was commissioned in the academic year 2012-13 with an intake of 60 students. Students who have successfully completed this program received a Bachelor Degree in Management.
The BMS program develops your understanding of organisations, their structures and cultures along with wider considerations such as environments, markets and processes and how all these work together to contribute to organisational success. This degree program also gives you an insight into core business functions such as marketing, accounting and finance, and their relevance to working life. You learn how to analyse and evaluate leadership behaviour and management decision-making in the workplace, and improve your own skills as a leader and manager. You also build the skills needed to engage in a process of lifelong learning, enabling you to develop into a reflective practitioner.

The project in Semester V of the B.M.S. Program carries3 credit points and isevaluated for 200 marks.
The guidelines for evaluation of the project are as under:
1) Hard copy 100 marks, Presentation 50 marks and Viva examination 50 marks.
2) As per the norms, the learner has to obtain minimum 40% of the marks in the Internal Assessment and Semester End Examination i.e. 32 out of 80 and 48 out of 120 marks respectively to pass in the Project.
3) The hard copy will be jointly evaluated by the internal and the external guide for 30 and 70 marks respectively.
4) The marks thus obtained by the learner in the project will be graded in the SEVEN point scale as given below:

Guidelines for the project
Every learner shall submit an individual project.
The topic / problem / theme for the project will be suggested/ approved by the Course teacher or by the supervising teacher or by the coordinator of the Program.
Every project shall have an internal guide who preferably must be the faculty of the college and an external guide. The external guide shall be approved by the Principal of the College/Head of the Department.
The project report, preferably, shall be neatly typed in Times Roman in 12 points double spaced on A4 size paper. The project report shall not be less than 50 pages.
The project report, preferably, shall be hard bound and the title of the project, name of the learner, class, seat number, the name of the Internal Guide, the name of the college/department, date of submission and the name of the University shall be printed on the upper face of the hard bound copy / file.
A learner shall submit two copies of the project at least one month before the commencement of the Viva Examination. Both the copies shall be certified by the internal guide / supervising teacher, the external guide and the Principal of the College / Head of the Department. One copy of the project shall be retained by the college/department and the other copy shall be returned to the learner after certification but before the commencement of the presentation and viva voce Examination. The learner shall bring his/her copy of the project during the Presentation and Viva voce Examination.

Programme Outcome
The course will help the students to obtain the knowledge and skills needed to assume management positions in different organizations and helps students to understand how organizations work and managed.
The degree aims to develop undergraduate students to be leaders and managers capable of taking on the challenges and rigors of the global marketplace. There will be better job opportunities after passing this course.

Scheme of Examination
In every semester, the Assessment is divided into theory and internal for each subject.
Seventy five percent marks is allotted to Theory papers and Twenty Five percent marks is allotted to Internal Assessment.
The Theory Assessment is in the form of a written examination which is conducted at the conclusion of each semester.
The Internal Assessment is in the form of a written test, individual/group projects, individual/group presentations and other activities. It also includes marks allotted for continuous assessment such as attendance, class participation and discipline.

To pass a course, learners must obtain a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate of each course. The learners shall obtain minimum of 40% marks (i.e. 10 out of 25) in the Internal Assessment and 40% marks in Semester End Examination (i.e. 30 Out of 75) separately, to pass the course and minimum of Grade E in each project, wherever applicable, to pass a particular semester.
